World Autism Awareness Month
Autism Awareness Month was re-designated Autism Acceptance Month. The terminology change is small but significant and powerful. While awareness simply acknowledges the existence of something, acceptance actively fosters an environment of inclusion and belonging.
The puzzle pattern reflects the complexity of the autism spectrum - the intricate diversity of individuals and families navigating the spectrum. Each color and shape represents the diversity of the people and families living with the condition. By embracing this, we have the opportunity to proactively support individuals with autism in their development and social connections.
Let’s continue to empower individuals with autism to live authentically and without constraint. It’s crucial to recognize their capabilities and potential, affirming that they are capable of achieving as much as anyone else.
Throughout this month of April, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated commits to sharing valuable insights and information on fostering inclusivity within our society for those on the autism spectrum.
Together, let’s build a world where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.
